FORMER PLATTE CITY MAYOR NAMED TO MO 811 BOARD

“Missouri 811” officials announced the result of ballots cast by Missouri municipalities and underground utilities during its annual meeting in Columbia last week.

Randy Norden, Missouri 811’s executive director, reported Frank Offutt received over 67% of the votes cast for the open seat on “MO 811” Board of Directors, securing the position over the three other candidates nominated for the two-year term.

Missouri 811 was established under the Missouri Underground Facility Safety and Damage Prevention Act, Chapter 319 (RSMo 319) in 1986. The “Act” mandates any excavator notify “Missouri 811” before digging.

“The mission of “Missouri 811” is to enhance public safety and prevent damage to underground facilities,” Offutt said.

He continued by sharing “Missouri 811 is funded by member utilities, and is free to all excavators, either a commercial contractors or a private homeowner. The ultimate goal of MO 811 is zero injuries and zero interruption of services to the general public.”

Offutt serves locally as Public Water Supply District No. 4’s executive director and was recently appointed by Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe to serve on the state’s nine-member Safe Drinking Water Commission.

The Missouri Rural Water Association Board of Directors, who supported Offutt during election, held a reception at the State Capitol to celebrate his victory.
