A Platte County grand jury handed down two indictments against three individuals last week for the sale and distribution of narcotics, according to Platte County Prosecutor Todd Graves. Raymond Brightwell, 36, Camden Point, was indicted on two counts of sale of a controlled substance (cocaine). Since January of 1996, members of the Platte County Drug Task Force have engaged in undercover activity concerning Brightwell. On Jan. 23 and Jan. 25, undercover officers of the task force allegedly purchased cocaine from Brightwell.
After collecting 1,500 canned goods given to United Services, Principal Ray Mahowski promised students he would eat lunch on the roof of the Barry Middle School building. On Monday, May 20, Mahowski delivered his promise during a misty rain. “I’m just really proud of the kids for gathering so much food,” said Mahowski. Mahowski is pictured lowering a bucket of treats to the students having fun watching.
A Platte County grand jury has indicted a Platte County resident of three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. Ronald Main, 55, Camden Point, was indicted on one count of rape, one count sodomy and one count of sexual abuse in the first degree. The victim visited Main in 1992 and 1994. It was during these extended visits that Main allegedly molested the girl.
