Returning Platte County R-3 School District teachers will get an average 18 percent pay hike next term, under a salary schedule unanimously approved by the board of education Thursday night. Members of the school district’s new Platte County Education Association said they feel the salary increments could and should have been higher. These instructors said, though, they plan to sign contracts with the new pay levels. Under the 1981-82 salary schedule, first year teachers with a bachelor’s degree will make $11,800 for the nine month term. The highest salary will be $20,094 for an instructor with a master’s plus 30 graduate hours and 13 years of experience.
