The bridge over Jowler Creek at Camden Point on Hwy. E was closed on Monday for the start of construction of a new bridge at that location. Many northern Platte County residents will be forced to use a detour during construction, which will run till mid-May.


Kevin Robinson of Platte City has filed to run for county auditor against incumbent Siobhann Williams for auditor of Platte County.

There could soon be a new member on the board of directors for the Platte County Board of Elections. Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Diane M. Pepper (D) of Kansas City to the Platte County Election Board. Pepper cannot begin serving in the position until her appointment is confirmed by the state senate. Pepper is a librarian at Mid-Continent Public Library in Riverside. She also is a licensed real estate broker. From 2000 to 2008, Pepper was president of the Platte County Historical Society. The governor has appointed Pepper for a term ending Jan. 12, 2013. Pepper would replace Mary Mooney Burns. Other members of the board are Josh Linville, Republican; Chris Dalton, Republican; and Steve Foster, Democrat.


Wells Bank will sponsor a community Easter Egg Hunt on the turf at Platte County High School football field on Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m.
