After pleading guilty on Feb. 17 to second degree murder and felony use of a weapon in the drive-by shooting death of 17-year-old Spencer Crosthwait last summer in Parkville, Justin Dougan, 20, will serve two concurrent sentences of life in prison.

Some information in the presentation of findings from a business outreach survey conducted by the chamber of commerce was not well received by everyone at City Hall in Platte City. “There are some findings in there that just aren’t true,” said Jason Metten, city administrator, after Karen Wagoner of the chamber gave her presentation. “I would like to take this opportunity to say that if we are going to use this as a tool for our community then we need to treat it like any other anonymous source,” Metten said. “I take personally some of the things in this survey.”
