PAULIE’S PIZZA COMING OUT IN AUGUST
Longtime Platte County Landmark columnist Chris Kamler has a new book coming out soon.
Kamler, who has penned his The Rambling Moron column on page 3 of The Landmark since fall of 2011, is writing his first novel.
The book, Paulie’s Pizza, is set to be out in late August, Kamler says.
Previously, Kamler’s books have included The Silence, The Series & and The Season of Sung Woo, about the 2014 magical ride of the Kansas City Royals and their superfan Sung Woo.
His other book is My Best 10%, a collection of The Rambling Moron column from The Landmark from 2011 to 2022.
Both of his earlier books are available at The Landmark office, 212 Marshall Road, Ste. C, Platte City.
Here’s a summary of Kamler’s forthcoming novel, Paulie’s Pizza:
Sixteen-year-old Cole Callander finally has everything he’s been waiting for: a driver’s license, a beat-up Ford pickup, and a summer job delivering pizzas.
Paulie’s Pizza seems like the perfect place to spend the summer. The business is slow, the pay is cash, and owner T keeps hiring Cole’s friends. Most nights are spent cruising around town, arguing about movies and sports, chasing girls, and pretending they have life figured out.
Along the way, Cole falls hard for Bailey, a fearless cheerleader with strawberry-blonde hair, while navigating friendships, rivalries, and all the awkward uncertainty that comes with growing up.
But beneath the laughter and late-night pizza runs, something isn’t quite right at Paulie’s. Rumors swirl about T’s past, mysterious visitors begin appearing, and the teenagers slowly discover that their summer hangout may be connected to something far more dangerous than they ever imagined.
