ON SATURDAY, JULY 4TH

A large parade–which seems to get even larger in political years like this one–will be one of the highlights of the annual Parkville 4th of July celebration in Downtown Parkville on Saturday.

“Help us celebrate USA’s 250th,” celebration organizers posted on Facebook.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will be followed by other daytime activities. The evening hours will include a patriotic skydiving exhibition and of course a fireworks display will cap the evening.

Following is a schedule of events:

PARKVILLE 4th of JULY PARADE: 10 a.m. start time at 63rd Street & Hwy 9, ending on Main Street in Downtown Parkville.
Independence Day trivia and giveaways will start at 10 a.m., at 1st and Main Street

7 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST, hosted by the American Legion Post 318, 11 Main Street.

7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
PARKVILLE FARMER’S MARKET. Extended hours, including face painting and a balloon artist for the kids, as well as a pie eating and hot dog eating contest for adults.

1 p.m.- 2 p.m.
Voices of Kansas City will perform a patriotic a cappella show in Pocket Park at 1st and Main.

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES. SHOP & DINE at Downtown Parkville businesses throughout the day and enjoy some Sips & Sales from local retailers.

Parkville Mini Golf will be open all day for Family Fun.

6 p.m.
Festival food, caricature artist, balloon artist, and family activities, including corn hole and the Imagine-To-Go Bus.

8:45 p.m.
FALCON SKYDIVING PATRIOTIC EXHIBITION

9:30 p.m.
FIREWORKS SHOW

Hosted by the City of Parkville

MORE INFO AND ‘THINGS TO DO’:

  • Many stores will be open before and after the parade. Several will be open all day.
  • Parkville Mini Golf will be open all day.
  • Enjoy English Landing Park – miles of walking and biking trails, picnics, pickleball, playgrounds, frisbee golf, sand volleyball, basketball
  • Platte Landing Park and the Dog Park will be closed on July 4th due to the Fireworks Show setup.
    •Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a front row seat for the Patriotic Skydiving Exhibition & Fireworks Show. The skydiving exhibition and fireworks display will launch near the Missouri River, south of the baseball field on Main Street.
    •Shuttles from South Platte YMCA to-from downtown Parkville will run from 6-10:30 p.m.
