It can be tough following in the footsteps of a legend. The previous police chief at Camden Point became legendary for all the wrong reasons after being charged with making unauthorized telephone calls to a 1-900 psychic hotline on the city’s phone. Now, his replacement is busy trying to clean up the small town police department’s reputation and occasionally takes a little bit of grief in the process. “I get a lot of ribbing about the 900 numbers,” says Curtis Welch. “It’s done with good nature, though.”
