Several area high school seniors have been awarded the Superintendent’s Leadership Grant to attend Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, North. The grants are designed to recognize college-bound high school seniors who demonstrate leadership potential. Recipients include Adam Laut, Scott Briscoe and Jason Boeshart, all of Park Hill; Kelle Binkerd of Platte County R-3; Christy Catron of Northland Career Center; Rachelle Shanks of North Platte R-1; Jamie Berry of West Platte.


State Sen. Sidney Johnson recently visited with Julie Thomas, Feddie Wells, Rita Rhoads and Judie Purvis at the state capitol building in Jefferson City. The group traveled to Jefferson City on behalf of the City of Tracy to meet with officials regarding a Community Development Block Grant for improvements to the city’s water system.

Big sister Alesha welcomes home her new brother, Kyle Allen. He was born June 9 to Mona Devlly Ballard of Camden Point. He is the grandson of David and Clair Ballard and Nona Carol Wilson.


The Plattsburg Community Band will perform Monday, June 24 at the Edgerton City Park. The group consists of adult and high school musicians from Platte and Clinton Counties. Director of the band is Jay Nixon.
