A Blue Springs man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by Judge Ward B. Stuckey, Platte County Circuit Court Judge, for a burglary conviction handed down Thursday, reports Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Todd Graves. Michael W. Lewis, 27, was found guilty by a Platte County jury on March 12 of committing one act of burglary in the second degree. The crime occurred during the afternoon at a rural Platte County residence on June 23, 1995.
No formal announcement has been made, but it appears a Harley-Davidson Motor Co. production plant is planned for an area near Kansas City International Airport in Platte County. Carl Eberle, plant manager of capacity expansion at Harley-Davidson’s home office in Milwaukee, Wisc., on Wednesday morning told The Landmark that his company has “been engaged in discussions with Kansas City and an announcement will be coming shortly.” He declined further comment and said an announcement would be handled through Harley-Davidson’s public relations department.
Platte County R-3 students were part of the crowd that took in the sights and sounds of County Government Day Friday at the Platte County Courthouse, Administration Building and Annex.
