Platte City Chamber of Commerce held an open house at the meeting room at Best Western Motel. Betty Soper, chamber of commerce president, and Dr. Jerry Jenks, project director, welcomed the visitors. Crackers and cheese and a variety of wines and punch were served.

Dedication ceremonies were held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at the courthouse in Platte City, officially marking the second anniversary of the opening of the remodeled courthouse and officially recognizing the new county seal. The Rev. W.R. Tucker, Weston, spoke to the group to explain the symbolism of the new county seal. A plaque was also presented to the county by the Bicentennial Commission.
