Don W. Thomas of Weston had just completed remodeling and planned to reopen the Angus Steakhouse on I-29 and HH, but had his plans changed for him by a fire Wednesday night, May 6, which destroyed the structure. “It looks like that’s down the drain now,” Thomas commented on his plans for the reopening. He formerly operated the Angus Steakhouse, a popular eating place just outside the city limits of Platte City, sold the business and then recently bought it back, after it had closed.
