Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fox of Parkville will be honored with a reception in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 7 at the home of Harry and Wanda Boggs, Route 27 and NW 45 Hwy. and Fox Road, Parkville. Hosting the reception are Wanda Boggs, Jan Fox, Donna Fox and Jackie Dean. Mr. and Mrs. Fox are longtime residents of Platte County and are self-employed farmers. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts, please.


Cindy Rollins Shineman graduated from Avila College on May 9, obtaining her bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is a 1977 graduate of Platte County R-3 High School and the wife of Ronald Shineman of Kansas City. Cindy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy R. Rolling of Platte City, the granddaughter of Mrs. Fred Rollins of Platte City, and the granddaughter of Kermit Crawford, Parkville. She plans to work at St. Mary’s Hospital.

PCEA and the Platte County R-3 Board of Education are in disagreement over a major item which can affect the amount of money available for teacher salaries. Helen Sue Gabbert, chairman of the PCEA Negotiations Committee, said the board is using $40,048,457 as the assessed valuation of the Platte County R-3 School District. PCEA is using $42,208,212 as the assessed valuation of the district.
