Marriage vows were exchanged by Carole Robinette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nicholson of NW Kerns Road, and Robert Kevin Jones, son of Mrs. Marilyn Sappington of NE Parvin Road on Friday, April 10. The couple will leave this week for an extended trip to Hawaii.


All friends and relatives have been invited to attend a golden anniversary reception to honor the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Love. The reception will be held May 17 from 2-5 p.m. in the home of Fred and Dolly McDaniel of rural Camden Point. Byron and Berneice were married May 14, 1931 by Rev. Eben Hannah, former minister of the Weston Christian Church.

A big scene on the Ed Sullivan show is part of the Platte County R-3 High School play to be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, May 7, 8 and 9 at the high school in Platte City. The musical comedy “Bye Bye Birdie” is the first musical produced by the school in five years. Tickets may be purchased at the school or at the door, with performances at 7:30 p.m.


The Platte County Administrative Court has officially proclaimed the month of May as Older Americans Month.
