The Platte County Salary Commission comprised of all elected officeholders except the prosecutor and judges met last month and voted to give their offices a six percent increase beginning in 2011. The only officeholder to vote against the raise was Jim Plunkett, second district commissioner.

Homeowners in a subdivision located near NW 76th Street and K Hwy. may be footing the bill for a sewer system that many say they do not want. The subdivision has about 92 homes that operate on a septic tank system for wastewater disposal. According to the Platte County Health Department, nearly 20 percent of the systems in the subdivision are failing. In August, the Platte County Regional Sewer District board approved a request from the health department to install a sanitary sewer line system in the subdivision.
