Dean and Diana Merryman of Kansas City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Dione Lee Merryman. The groom-to-be is Kevin Raye Wetzel, the son of Danny J. Wetzel and the late Margie F. Wetzel of Camden Point. He is currently employed by A.O. Thompson Lumber Company in Riverside. Both attended Park Hill High School. The couple plans to be married on Saturday, March 5, 1993 at the South Platte Baptist Church at 5 p.m. by Pastor David Long. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Weatherby Lake Clubhouse.

The first of this season’s border wars is over, and round one went to the Kansas Jayhawks with an 86-69 win over the Missouri Tigers Monday night in Lawrence. The Tigers will have to find another offensive weapon for their next meeting with the Jayhawks. Darrin Hancock, the defensive whiz, will be back from an injury by then and will shut down Mark Atkins, who scored 30 points for MU on Monday.
