Mr. and Mrs Charlie L. Knox will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 19, 1978 at the Camden Point Baptist Church in Camden Point from 2-6 p.m. Charlie and Wilma were married on Feb. 20, 1928 in Kansas City, Kan. They have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wright of Platte City announce the birth of their daughter, Jane Carrico, on Jan. 20, 1978 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. The maternal grandmother is Mrs. Marjorie Holt and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wright, all from Platte City. She has two brothers and one sister to welcome her home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jackson celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Sunday by having dinner at Nickerson’s Restaurant with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Baber, Mark, Mike, and Beverly Hershley. Nickersons gave them an anniversary cake. Later in the afternoon, punch and cookies were served at the Babers.


The Weston Tobacco Market closed its season last week with a smaller sales volume than expected but a larger sales price than last year, according to Harold Jones, director of the Platte County Stabilization Conversation Service Office. The net sales totaled 5,607,170 pounds for the season and the average price per pound was $1.15 compared to last year’s average price of $1.04 per pound.
