Tracey Steele has announced his campaign to run for the Missouri House of Representatives.

He will appear on the Democratic primary ballot in August 2026 with intentions to run in the November general election. Steele is running for State House in Missouri’s 12th District. The 12th district is located in Platte County, encompassing several Kansas City suburbs. The district includes the following areas: Parkville, Platte Woods, Riverside, Houston Lake, and a portion of Kansas City.

The 12th district is currently represented by Republican Mike Jones.

Steele is a native Missourian, husband, father of three, and a grassroots organizer in Parkville.

Steele attended Northwest Missouri State University where he earned his bachelor degree in broadcasting. He later attended the University of California, Irvine Law School where he earned his JD. He currently works as a real estate and development attorney in Kansas City.

“It is time to bring common sense values back to Jefferson City,” Steele said. “Instead of focusing on the issues that affect Missourians’ daily lives, politicians in Jefferson City have been playing partisan games. I will be a representative for all, not just some.”

Steele’s campaign will focus on addressing the cost of living, energizing workforce development, and ensuring high quality education for all students.

Being raised by a father who was a farmer and a mother who did odd jobs to make ends meet, Steele said he knows that it is the working class who make Missouri function.

“We have seen elected representatives brazenly overturn the will of the people on abortion access, earned sick leave, and many other citizen-led initiatives. Now more than ever, we need representatives who listen to the people instead of representatives who always assume they know best.”

A husband and father, Steele is an active member of his community, working to make it better through various acts of volunteer service, including his work as a co-founder of the Northland community service organization Do Something MO!

He currently works at the Levy Craig Law Firm in Kansas City as a real estate and development attorney. He and his wife, Tania live in Parkville with their daughter, a first grade student in the Park Hill School District.

Tracey invites you to his campaign kickoff on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 2-4 p.m. at Park Place Grille, 160 English Landing Drive, Parkville.
