The Easter portion of George Frederic Handel’s choral masterpiece “The Messiah” arranged by J.A. Dasker will be performed by the Chancel Choir of the United Methodist Church of Platte City during the worship service on Palm Sunday under the direction of Kristie Garrelts. Selections from the Christmas portion will also be presented.


Platte City Lions club will observe its 40th anniversary with a Charter Night banquet Friday night at Platte County R-3 High School auditorium. Dinner for Lions, their ladies and other guests will be catered by the Women of the Platte City United Methodist Church. Arvid Edwards will serve as master of ceremonies and the R-3 Jazz Ensemble will provide entertainment.

Jim and Brenda Handke of Atchison, Kan. are proud parents of a baby girl, named Tyra Marie, born March 5. Brenda is a graduate from Platte City High School.


A benefit square dance will be held at the Camden Point Elementary School, Saturday March 29 for the Ivan Thompson family. The benefit begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature the Joe Grable Family Band. Tickets are available at the Platte County Bank of Camden Point and Dearborn. Adults $1.50, children up to the seventh grade, 50 cents. Tickets also available at the door.
