Vicky Lynn Stagner and Robert Pennington were united in marriage May 17 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Platte City. The parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Parker, Platte City. The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pennington, Atchison, Kan.


The Platte County Bank of Platte City has opened at I-29 and Hwy. 92, becoming the community’s second banking institution. With a staff of four employees, the bank is a full-service bank. It is state chartered. President Jerry Hagg and vice president Doug Gutshall are loan officers. Also on the payroll are Judy Clements and Joan Mattox.

There are 15 recognized languages and more than 100 dialects spoken in India, but the group exchange team from Gujarat, India that visited the Weston Rotary Club on Friday spoke English-with a dash of American slang they have picked up in the last month. Since arriving in Rotary District 603 on April 27, the Indians have been staying with American Rotarian families and visiting cities in the area of the district, which includes most of northwest Missouri. Joseph Collison, Rotary chairman for the Weston visit, explained that the Rotary exchange program has been going on for years among Rotary districts around the world. “It’s aim is to promote world understanding,” he explained.
