Mr. and Mrs. William H. Sell of Platte City announce the engagement of their daughter, Theresa Anne, to Richard Blake Dunlop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Dunlop, 8019 N. Stoddard, Kansas City. Miss Sell graduated in 1979 from Platte County R-3 High School and attended Missouri Western State University. She is currently enrolled at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. The bridegroom-elect, a 1976 graduate of Park Hill High School, is employed by Continental Airlines in Tucson. The couple will be wed July 5 in the First Baptist Church of Platte City.
You can still get across the Platte Purchase Bridge for a quarter, but for how long is anyone’s guess. Betty Huntsman, manager of the toll bridge, says she is glad the Platte County Administrative Court has decided not to raise the toll at this time, although she admits that “eventually it will happen.” Since I-635 opened, “the handwriting has been on the wall” for the Platte Purchase Bridge, foretelling less use, less revenue and the need for higher tolls.
Mr. and Mrs. Rod Nave announce the arrival of their son, Scott Anthony, born April 21. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Nick Nave of Kansas City and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Squier of Tarkio. Scott has been welcomed home by his two year old brother, David Andrew.
