Platte County Commission plans to build a new bridge across Jowler Creek on Interurban Road just south of Camden Point have hit a snag because the existing bridge has been declared of “historical significance,” it was announced Thursday. Platte County already has a contract with Harrington & Cartelyou of Kansas City to serve as consulting engineers on the bridge replacement project, estimated to cost about $200,000, including engineering fees and construction costs.
Donald Kirkpatrick, a 17-year-old Weston youth, was struck by a car near Casey’s on Hwy. 92 in Platte City as he rode his bicycle to work at McDonald’s early Tuesday morning. He was taken to Liberty Hospital by LifeFlight helicopter. He remains in intensive care in stable condition.
