Paul Regan, manager of Ferrelgas of Platte City, Bethel Road, is the new fire chief for the Platte City volunteer fire department. His selection by the other members of the fire department was approved by the Platte City Board of Aldermen at its meeting on June 4. Although he’s new as chief, Regan brings a lot of experience in firefighting to the post, having been with the department for more than eight years. He will be assisted by Larry Bigus, first assistant chief; Steve Hardesty, second assistant chief; Johnny Northern and Leonard Severn, captain.


Mr. and Mrs. Rick Cline of Platte City announce the birth of their son, Evan Matthew on Tuesday, June 3 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville. He has a sister, Carey, to welcome him home. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Anderson of Platte City and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cline of Kansas City.

Debra Irene Cannon became the bride of Patrick Michael Rasmussen in a double ring ceremony May 24 in St. Joseph Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell G. Cannon, Leavenworth, Kan., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cannon, Rt. 2, Platte City. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Rasmussen, Bellevue, Neb.
