The Missouri Department of Transportation estimates that about 1,020 vehicles travel over the Hwy. HH (Main Street) bridge over I-29 each day at Platte City. The route will be closed for more than three months while crews build a new bridge. Construction could begin as early as April.


Platte City police officers James Tharp and Al Devalkenaere worked to install a new interior door in the police department’s lobby Tuesday morning. Officers began working on the new entryway that will separate the front lobby from department officers. The door will feature a bullet resistant window.

The Platte County Regional Sewer District has a new master plan but not everyone is on board. The board voted 3-2 last Wednesday to adopt the plan that has been two years in the making. Jim Plunkett, sewer board member who is also a county commissioner, and board member Aaron Jung voted against the plan.


MoDOT continues to expand its Scout interstate messaging system. Three new dynamic message signs are being installed north of the Missouri River. A new board was installed on southbound I-29 at Platte City and another just north of I-635. A southbound I-435 message board south of Hwy. 152 will be installed this week.
