Dr. Gayden Carruth will become superintendent of the Park Hill R-5 School District effective July 1, 1994, the board of education announced at its regularly scheduled March 24 meeting. Dr. Carruth was chosen from a national field of 75 candidates, which was narrowed to six finalists in February. The finalists each visited the school district and with leaders of the community during the interview process. The board of education made the final selection of the superintendent.

Platte County commissioners received word Tuesday that the Missouri Department of Conservation will do a “fly over” aerial observation April 6 of the proposed regional shooting range at Parma Park. The park, located at I-435 and FF Highway, is being considered as one of three regional ranges in Missouri by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Plans for the estimated $1.5 million range include a facility for classrooms and areas for pistol, rifle, shotgun and bow practice.
