Platte County’s Pirates scored early and often in an easy 44-0 victory over the Kansas City East Bears Friday night in Platte City. “The kids came out and played hard,” said Chip Sherman, the Pirates’ head coach. Though the Pirates were victorious, their chances of winning a district title were ended the next day when Lincoln knocked off Kearney. That victory clinched the district championship for Lincoln.
Platte County’s Lady Pirates volleyball team wrapped up a district championship last week then lost in the first round of sectional competition to a solid Oak Grove club. Platte County was the host school for the Class 3A District 16 volleyball tournament. The local girls opened the tourney with an easy first round win over Lincoln Academy by scores of 15-1, 15-6.

Platte City will celebrate the second annual Holiday of Lights on Saturday, Nov. 7 beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Platte County Courthouse lawn, located at 328 Main.
