Three teachers at the Northland Career Center in Platte City received awards at the American Vocational Association conference in St. Louis. They include Al Babich, counselor; Paul Santaularia, food service/management; and Del Winston, AC/heating/refrigeration.


Patsy and Samuel Norborne Sloan, formerly of Platte County and now of Lexington, Ky., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 19, 1992. This event will make the Sloan brothers of Platte County–all seven of them–100 percent in 50th wedding anniversaries.

Kathy Hatfield’s West Platte girls basketball team won the KCI Conference Tournament with a 53-48 victory over top-seeded Plattsburg Friday.


The Platte County Commission Thursday approved the low bid of Missouri Bridge and Concrete, Inc. of Warrenton, Mo., at $115,207.69 for repair of the Martin Road Bridge. The firm’s bid was the lowest of 11 bids received, ranging up to $206,962 and was also under the county engineer’s estimate of $132,000.


A perfect score on a quiz and a little luck brought Heath Martin, a junior at Platte County R-3 High School, to Jefferson City on Dec. 8. Heath was one of the winners of The Bill of Rights Quiz.
