Mr. and Mrs. George Swaney of Platte City announce the birth of their son, Peter Bradley, on April 30, 1976 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Pete Boston of Benld, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Swaney of Platte City are the paternal grandparents.


Sen. Truman E. Wilson will deliver the commencement address to the North Platte High School graduating class on May 16 at 8 p.m. at the high school auditorium.

Mrs Lee “Boots” Hull of Weston has recently been appointed as the Platte County chairman of the National Bicentennial Commission due to the resignation of Francis Williams.


The advanced general shop class of the Platte County R-3 High School and Beverly Lumber Company of Platte City joined forces and completed the wood storage shed on display at the Beverly Lumber Company. Students who helped on the project were Steve Wall, Buddy Martin, Jim Mull, Richard Coons, Paul Renz, Kirt Milltacher, Tom Gibson, Jim Pardley, and shop instructor Alan Goodwin.


A cocktail reception in honor of Congressman Jerry Litton, candidate for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, will be held at the Curt Rodgers residence near Platte City on Saturday, May 15 between 5 and 7 p.m. Congressman and Mrs. Litton will be present and all friends and supporters are invited to attend. Tickets are $20 per couple.
