Platte County R-3 teachers Thursday presented the school board a proposed master contract for 1981-82 that includes a raise of $3,200 in the salary base. Mark Cutler, president of the Platte County Education Association, said the proposed salary was realistic. If the salary schedule is approved by the board, the yearly pay of a beginning teacher with a bachelor’s degree would go from $10,300 to $13,500. A starting instructor with a master’s degree would draw $15,120 rather than the present $11,536. Under the proposed schedule, the top salary of a teacher would advance to $24,180 from $17,316. Superintendent Gerald Hart estimated the proposed salary schedule would hike the budget by $500,000 a year. If the present salary schedule were kept for 1981-82, he estimated pay advancements on it would come to $30,000.
