Missouri is one of 12 states that favors Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups among all other candies sold this Halloween.
The peanut butter and chocolate combo is the most popular candy on the market, according to Bid on Equipment.
Each year, the Illinois-based company releases a map of each state’s favorite Halloween candy based on Google search volume.
Arkansas, Kansas and Iowa also favored Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, while Illinois favors Jolly Rancher and Kentucky prefers Swedish Fish.
The map shows that M&M’s, with its chocolate center encased in a hard shell of varying colors, are the second most popular candy.
In fact, candies containing any amount of chocolate were leading contenders. After all, there are 1,342 manufacturing establishments that produce chocolate or cocoa products in the United States.
Nebraska, Oklahoma and North Dakota all favor Hot Tamales.
Nerds, Kit Kats, Air Heads and SweeTarts were the most popular candy in only one state.
The map serves as a good indicator of what treats most trick-or-treaters will likely receive this upcoming holiday at Trunk or Treat events and neighborhoods across the nation.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are an estimated 41.4 million potential trick-or-treaters between the ages of 5 and 14 this year.
Ninety-five percent of households will purchase candy this Halloween, with the majority spending $25.64 on treats.
By the time November rolls around, most candied treats will have been enjoyed, leaving hardly any trace of the child-friendly holiday.
