Mr. and Mrs. Brady Testorff announce the birth of a baby girl, born Nov. 13, weighing over eight pounds. The maternal grandparents are Don and Nancy Marshall.


Platte County R-3 students were presented a Missouri Community Betterment plaque for youth service at Thursday’s Chamber of Commerce meeting and have displayed the plaque at the high school.

The 1990 yearbook at Platte County R-3 High School, the Pirateer, has been named a First Class Yearbook by the National Scholastic Press Association.


Coach Jim Phillips will have a big team in his second year as boys basketball coach at Platte County R-3. Four of the five Pirate starters will be 6’3″ or taller. The season begins for the Pirate boys on Nov. 27 at St. Pius, followed by a Nov. 30 game at home vs. Pem Hill.


Anna Nutt, head coach of the Lady Pirate basketball team, expects her team to be improved over last year because of more experience. The Lady Pirates have been seeded seventh for the KCI Conference Tournament that begins Dec. 3 at Lawson.


Michael M. Clay, a rural postal carrier, was honored at a retirement party last week at the Platte City Post Office. Clay has served the postal department for 35 years.
