Assault charges have been filed as a result of a dispute outside a Platte City lounge in late April. Ricki Lee Shepard, 45, of Camden Point has been charged with second degree assault, a Class C felony, resulting from a scuffle with Jack Coons, 45, of Platte City, at Mr. B’s Lounge in Platte City. Court papers filed by Randy Eggert, assistant prosecuting attorney, allege that Shepard caused physical injury to Coons “by means of using a dangerous instrument.”

A Platte County Sheriff’s Deputy interrupted a burglary in progress at Across the River Tavern, Hwy. 45 Spur near Farley, at about 1 a.m. on Monday. Captain Bill Taylor of the sheriff’s department said as the deputy approached the back of the building, two suspects fled on foot in the field behind the business and were apprehended. Two more suspects were still in the business and they fled out the front door. Arrested at the scene were a Bonner Springs, Kan. man, 19, and a 21-year-old man from Edwardsville, Kan. A third suspect was arrested later Monday, an 18-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan. All three are charged with burglary in the second degree.
