AT LINE CREEK, KANSAS CITY IN PLATTE COUNTY
A young boy who was struck by a falling tree on a trail in Platte County has died.
The boy, age 5, had been hospitalized since a tree fell on him last Wednesday, May 27, at Line Creek Trail in southern Platte County near 68th Street and NW Waukomis Drive.
According to Kansas City police, the boy died after he was taken off life support at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30.
The Kansas City Fire Department had responded to Line Creek Trail about 10 a.m. on May 27 to reports of a tree that had fallen on top of a child.
When medics arrived on scene, they found the boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. Police say the boy was playing in the creek when he was struck by the falling tree.
