The old telephone building on Third Street was torn down this week in Downtown Platte City. The Wells Bank is building a drive-in banking facility on that lot.


Mrs. Floreine Grisham and Miss Delores Mayer of Leavenworth recently returned home from a 17-day tour of Greece, from Athens through the countryside with its olive groves through Thesalonika, on the Aegean Sea. The last three days were spent cruising among the islands of My Ronos, Rhodea, Crete and Santorini.

Perry Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Alexander, has been selected to play in McDonald’s Band in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York and the Rose Bowl Parade in California on New Year’s Day.


Three buses of Pirate fans, Booster and Pep Club members, witnessed a last minute comeback that almost turned the tide for their team at the Friday night football game between Platte County R-3 and Lawson. Lawson narrowly defeated Platte County R-3, 7-6.


Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crom have purchased the Western Auto Store in Platte City and have been working to get ready to open soon.
