Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) officials conducted a noise level test with guns and decibel meters last Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 10 locations surrounding a proposed shooting range site at Parma Park near I-435 and FF Road in Platte County. Officers fired off 300 rounds of ammunition in 60-second bursts of slow, sustained fire, which is similar to the type of firing that takes place at MDC shooting ranges. Decibel meters monitored sound levels of the firing and all other noise around the proposed site.
