Ward B. Stuckey, circuit judge of Platte County, has sentenced Michael Koenig, 30, to 30 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for a series of car break-ins at the KCI Airport. A jury found Koenig guilty on July 9 of three counts of felony stealing. According to prosecutors, Koenig took car stereos and other property to support his drug habit.
Brian S. Manville left his parents’ house in Dearborn about 4 a.m. on July 30 with a tent, a canteen of water and $5. He hasn’t been seen since. The 24-year-old man has no history of disappearance. His direction of travel on July 30 is not known, but when camping “he pretty much stayed in the back yard or near a relative’s house in Buchanan County,” said Det. Maria Pittman of the Platte County Sheriff’ s Department. “To him, that was camping.” Det. Pittman said authorities have searched the areas where Manville has been known to camp and found no clues. “He normally doesn’t go very far,” she said.
Kids walking the streets at late hours has become a problem in Platte City, and the Platte City Board of Aldermen is on the verge of taking a major step toward solving the problem. At a meeting Tuesday night, aldermen listened to a proposal from Ron Canaday, police chief, who wants to see the city adopt a curfew ordinance that would allow police to issue a summons to parents of children found roaming the streets past certain times of night.
