A video tape of the historic Forestyne Loyles home of Weston will be shown at the dinner meeting of the Platte County Historical Society at 3 p.m. April 5 at the KCI Holiday Inn. Often called “a little museum in itself,” this three-story house at 718 Spring has been occupied by members of the same family since May 25, 1864. It was purchased by Theodore F. Warner for his sister, Russella Warner Price, but she never lived in it. She died very young while still living on Main Street in what is now the Quinley property.
On Monday, April 6, the City of Weston must shut down its water plant for 24 hours for emergency maintenance, Kenneth C. Juergens, district president, has announced. Since the City of Weston is the supplier to Water District No. 3, the district will have only the water in the water towers as a water supply. Therefore, it is requested that all members use as little water as possible and that no one waters trees, lawns, gardens, or tobacco beds on April 6 and April 7 while the towers are refilling, Juergens said.
The highlight film of the Kansas City Royals 1980 season will be the feature at the regular April meeting of the Platte County Business and Professional Association. With opening day on Monday the timing of the program is excellent. The film is well done and lasts about 22 minutes.
