Since March, a small group of Platte Countians have been working to develop a new organization dedicated to helping youth become tomorrow’s leaders. The result is “Reach Out–The Platte County 4-H and Youth Foundation.” The foundation has now been chartered by the state as a not-for-profit corporation with the following founding officers and directors: Chairman–Kenneth E.F. Kenyon; vice-chairman–Ed Zygmontowicz, Sr.; secretary–Shirley Peshek; treasurer–Becky King; board of directors: Joe Peshek, James Porter, Mrs. James Porter, Mrs. J. Bailey, Don Witt, James Bailey, James W. Bales, Jr. and Jennie Zygmontowicz.
There’s lots of space in the Platte County R-3 building trades house, nearing completion on Hull Drive in Platte City. The house has 1,650 sq. ft. plus attached double garage, fully insulated, plus 1,650 sq. ft. unfinished basement. Most of the work was done by students under close supervision and inspection.
Mrs. Robert H. Wolf has announced the engagement of her daughter, Rose Marie Holt, to Tom Hopkins, formerly of Rock Port. Marie is also the daughter of the late Leonard Holt. Rose Marie attended school at Platte County R-3 High School in Platte City. Tom attended high school at Rock Port.
