Dr. and Mrs. John B. Courrier of Everett, Washington announce the engagement of their daughter Catherine Lynn Courrier, to Gary Graham Brown, son of William and JoKaren Brown of Platte City. The future bride received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Puget Sound and her master’s in nutrition from the University of Washington. She is presently a dietician with Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. The future groom received his bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from Northwest Missouri State University and is earning his MBA from Rockhurst College. He is an economic research analyst with Kansas City Power and Light.
Lucile Jones of Platte City was honored Friday night at the annual convention of the Northwest Missouri Press Association for 23 years of service as the press group’s secretary. She recently announced she was retiring the position as she begins to slow her pace a bit. Pictured with Mrs. Jones are two of her friends from the press association, Chuck Haney, publisher of the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, and Craig Watkins, publisher of the Cameron Citizen Observer.
Demolition of the old bridge–the final phase of work on the Hwy. 92 bridge over the Platte River between Platte City and Tracy–was going on last week as workers used cutting torches and a crane to remove the old structure.
