The chance to win awards, see Platte County and learn how to drive to save gas are all part of the first ever Platte County Econo Rally on Nov. 15. The rally is open to all licensed drivers in any make, model or year of vehicle. The purpose is to demonstrate how driving practices can save gas and also to highlight some of Platte County’s attractions. The event starts with a complimentary dinner at the Baptist Church in Weston at 11:30 a.m. A short program on conservative and safe driving practices will be offered during the meal.

The Platte County Courthouse and courthouse lawn were the scene last Thursday for a “Last Acre” ceremony to mark the completion of a countywide soil survey that has been in progress for three years. As part of the ceremony, Don Spratt, chairman of the Soil and Water Conservation District, presented John M. Reineke, presiding judge of the Platte County Administrative Court, with a soil core sample.
