Volunteers will be at the Spectrum Station at 2401F Kentucky Ave, Platte City, next to Price Chopper.

The food drive will benefit Central Platte County Food Banks at Community Action Agency in Tracy, Platte City United Methodist Church as well as Dearborn’s Community Food Network.

Organizers ask the community to bring non-perishable fixings for Thanksgiving dinner as well as basics like flour, sugar, cereal, soup, etc. A complete list will be available at the Platte City Price Chopper on the day of the event.

Organizers encourage families to bring their children and come in costume. There will be candy for trick or treaters and a photo booth to take pictures. Pick up a flyer, pick up some food and come support our local food banks.

Local food banks are reporting a growing demand for assistance since the federal government shutdown and expect that to continue through the holidays. This has compounded the existing struggle created by the cuts to funding for food banks and other services from the beginning of 2025.

Do Something Mo was founded as a stop gap volunteer program to help support these programs and more. The completely volunteer organization engages directly with the community to drive awareness and assistance to community programs in unique and creative ways.

Since February of 2025, Do Something Mo, in cooperation with various community groups and gracious citizens, has placed over $15,000 in food, hygiene products and warm weather clothing to community service programs across Platte and Clay County.
