Sonny Hill Motors of Platte City had the privilege of being able to host the Past, Present and Future tour of the Corvette division of Chevrolet out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, home of the only Corvette museum. First manufactured in 1953, the model on display is one of the only 300 manufactured. Today it is valued at $250,000. The 1995 model Zr1 with 405 hp is currently for sale starting at $70,000. Also on display was a prototype for the year 2025. Chevrolet invested $1.2 million to build the car of the future. Sleek and ground hugging, designers have created a vehicle that will be more aerodynamic. Side view mirrors will be a thing of the past, as cameras will be mounted in the rear of the car and interior monitors will enable the driver to have full peripheral vision. For the ultimate convenience, the doors will flip open vertically so that parking in tight spots will never be a problem.
Sarah Lynn Fisher and James Forrest Wright were united in marriage June 17, 1995 at the First Baptist Church of Platte City. Rev. Rusty Savage officiated. Parents of the couple are Barney and Sue Fisher, Platte City, and Ed and Joyce Wright, Weston.
Although this may be a rural area in a pastoral setting which echoes traditional family values, there is no isolation from the modern aspects and social problems of the urban areas. Two among the 20 students in this class already have a child.
