A 33-year-old Parkville man has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of his live-in girlfriend. Paul M. Honeycutt is charged with killing Cheryl Bolsenga, 40, in their apartment on Parkville’s Bell Road late Friday night. Honeycutt is being held in the Platte County Jail on $300,000 bond. In court papers filed by assistant Platte County Prosecuting Attorney David Eggert, prosecutors allege neighboring resident and the manager of the apartment complex heard the couple arguing. The manager went to the apartment at about 11:30 p.m. to tell the tenants to quiet down. Court papers allege that the manager moments later heard what he believed to be gunfire.

Platte City personnel were busy repairing a leak in the storm sewer which runs under the sidewalk along the west side of Fourth Street by the ball fields last week. According to Platte City administrator Ann Daniels, when the original clay tile pipe was laid, it was not encased in concrete. Over time a joint had loosened causing the leak, which washed out the dirt under the sidewalk.
