After a brief snow flurry last Friday night and Saturday morning, Platte Countians felt lucky to have received a scant inch of the white stuff. Additional snow fell Tuesday night and continued on into Wednesday morning. It was still snowing as The Landmark went to press.


The tobacco market at Weston was off somewhat on its closing date of Tuesday, Jan. 29. After an average price of $1.35 on Monday, the price dropped to around an average of $1.20 in closing trade.

The Platte City Middle School held its winter band concert Monday night. This was the first concert of the year under the direction of Wendell Doyle. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders participated in the program.


Mr. and Mrs. Pat Everett announce the birth of their daughter, Janna Price on Sunday, Jan. 20, 1980 at the North Kansas City Hospital.


A high speed car chase ended with the arrest of a Rushville man on felony charges near Tracy shortly after midnight Friday morning. The driver, Douglas F. Karichner, 21, has been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and several other moving violations.
