Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Milliman of Platte City announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Janette, to John David Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Martin of Platte City. A wedding is being planned for April 7.


Jolene Joy Stinnett and Charles B. Pierce exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony on Feb. 11 at the Little Platte Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Dryden officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin D. Stinnett of Platte City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. DaVon Pierce of Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Humes of Weston announce the engagement of their daughter, Karri, to Rodney Boyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Boyer of Platte City. A June wedding is being planned.


Among the 1402 graduates from the University of Missouri-Columbia at the close of the fall semester were: Douglas L. Babcock, bachelor of arts, and Beth L. Hull, bachelor of science in recreation and park administration, both of Platte City; and Mary Anita Hall, bachelor of science in agriculture, of Weston.


A contract for a 40-ft. wide asphaltic concrete resurfacing on a 2.5 mile segment of Hwy. 45 Spur has been awarded by the Missouri Highway Commission. Cost will be $116,552.
