The list of possibilities to replace Dr. Mark Harpst as Platte County R-3 superintendent has been narrowed down to five applicants. In a series of three closed meetings held Thursday, Friday and Sunday, the R-3 board of education interviewed five of the 18 people who applied for the position to be vacated by Harpst at the end of June.
The proposed Windmill Creek subdivision east of Platte City, the developer of which has indicated a desire for the property to be voluntarily annexed into the city, has not been resubmitted by developer William Mann. Mann’s recent proposal for voluntary annexation and a preliminary plat were returned by the city because of a clerical error on the forms.
Student artist Brittany Anderson and Devin Wolfe painted The Landmark Newspaper’s front window last week, just in time for the Platte City Holiday Lighting Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street. Both Anderson and Wolfe are students at Northwest Missouri State University. The Platte City Chamber of Commerce organized students to use their art talents to decorate downtown business fronts for the holiday season.
The proposed Platte County budget for 2009 proposes a two percent pay increase for employees, according to Siobhann Williams, county auditor.
