If you thought the proposed Tomahawke housing development had disappeared from the news cycle, think again. Chris Byrd, attorney for landowners/developers Hal and Peggy Swaney, told The Landmark on Tuesday that the developers will be filing to appeal a judge’s recent ruling that upheld Platte County’s decision to deny the development. Lake at Tomahawke is a proposed 657-home subdivision on 319 acres of land near the intersection of Hwy. 92 and N. Winan Road, about 4.5 miles east of Platte City.
Nationally syndicated conservative talk show host Rusty Humphries will be performing live at Park Hill South High School on Friday, May 21. Humphries, whose show can be heard weeknights on KCMO 710 AM in Kansas City from 8-11 p.m., will do his famous parodies and honor the military veterans in the audience. Opening the show will be KCMO 710 AM morning talk show host Chris Stigall, who writes a weekly column for The Landmark.
Platte City aldermen approved additional spending in the amount of $5,748 to compensate trenching contractors for equipment damage and additional work after they struck a forgotten 60-year-old sewer pipe. “Capped and abandoned,” according to Jason Metten, city administrator, the pipe hadn’t been marked by utilities locators.
