Mr. and Mrs. Jesse R. Taulbee of Platte City have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rebecca Lynne, to Mr. Bennie R. Wenzel, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Wenzel, Sr. of Dearborn, Mo. The couple will be wed in a private ceremony followed by a reception at the Platte City Community Center on June 12, 1993. Becky is employed by the North Platte R-1 School District as the early childhood special education and kindergarten teacher. Bennie is employed by General Standard, Inc. of Kansas City, Mo.


The 64-team NCAA Basketball Tournament field has been chosen and divided into four regions. The top four seeds are North Carolina in the East, Indiana in the Midwest, Kentucky in the Southeast, and Michigan in the West. Six Big 8 teams are in. Missouri earned the automatic bid by winning the post-season league tournament. Other teams from the Big 8 in are Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.

The men’s double quartet will be among the groups from Platte County R-3 that will compete in a vocal music contest March 26 at William Jewell College in Liberty. They are Matt Sharp, Austin Howell, Scott Jackson, Chip Colvin, Eric Pruitt, Eddie Willis, and Lee Harmon.
