Rita Biggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joedd Biggs, is now enrolled in a beauty school in St. Joseph.


Ellen Lyn Kisker and Kenneth Mark Harpst were united in marriage in a candlelight ceremony Dec. 29, 1976 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farley. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Kisker, Platte City, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harpst of Weston.

The Society of the Scabbard and Blade, Department of Military Science, University of Missouri-Rolla, announces that Frances Hauschildt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hauschildt of Platte City, has been nominated by the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority as a candidate for the queen of the 38th Annual Military Ball.


Mike McGinness has been named chairman of a special event to be held in Platte City to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Platte City special event’s proceeds will enable continuation of the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.


John J. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller and a senior at Platte County R-3 High School, has been named a University of Missouri Curators Freshman Scholar.
