Motorcycle driver, age 80, dies in crash

An 80-year-old motorcycle driver died in a two-vehicle crash near the QuikTrip on Hwy. 169 at Smithville last week.

Robert L. Kohlscheen, 80, of Smithville was killed in the crash, which occurred at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 1407 US Hwy. 169.

According to the highway patrol crash report, Kohlscheen was driving a 2009 BMW motorcycle southbound. He was attempting to make a left turn onto US 169 and was struck by a northbound 2019 GMC Yukon driven by Annie M. Frazier, 39, of Kansas City. Kohlscheen was pronounced dead at North Kansas City Hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Smithville Police Department.
